Matthew Imber has been playing the cello for 25 years. He has performed with orchestras in seven countries and at New York’s historic Carnegie Hall. After studying music at Grinnell College in Iowa, he returned to Kansas City and now teaches private lessons in Overland Park. Matt loves classical music but also emphasizes a variety of techniques and genres on the cello, from pop, rock, and heavy metal to bluegrass and jazz. “I didn’t know the cello could do that,” is his favorite thing to hear from students.

 

His students have achieved top marks at solo & ensemble contests and have gone on to prestigious college and university programs for music and other studies. But more importantly, they develop a lifelong love of music and learning. Matt is a proud member of the Olathe Community Orchestra and serves on the advisory board of the Ad Astra youth chamber orchestra.
